Ahhh….this is awesome. Classic and clean arrangement with just the essential instruments to make the pella lift. Pop music doesn’t get better than this.

really great stuff man. you do made to order as good as anyone here. it’s put together like so many great folk songs i’ve heard by people like suzanne vega, gillian welch, michelle shocked, ani difranco, and so many other outstanding female vocalists from the folk genre. you really do this justice.
if anything, i even wish the “rhythm” mandolin was a bit louder, but aside from that, spot on. oh, and that string track is incredible! is that a real violin? |

Thanks MCJ,
Wow, you know my influences so well. When I heard how Lisa pronounced the word “anymore” I thought, “Hmm, Suzanne Vega” and started to craft something that felt like her “Queen and the Soldier” era, from the first album. And then I went off in a totally different Celtic direction when actually arranging it. :) |

Gorgeous…this would stand on its own even without my vocal. Is that you on the mandolin and violin?
You know it’s funny, I LOVE writing in 6/8 but I’ve heard it’s a pain in the ass for remixers, so I posted this oldie in 4/4 to avoid putting up two 6/8 pellas in a row…and here this is changed to 6/8!!! |

Yes, and thank you very much.
It wouldn’t stand on its own though - I “heard it” in your singing (even though I actually listened to the guitar part first.) Incidentally, I knew of the song itself already. So when I saw it on the list as a new pella, I had to shake my head and look again. Figured that would have been up here long ago. |

Most of my older recordings are not great as they were done on like a $50 mic…so I’m re-doing a bunch of songs now that I have my AKG Perception Mic! If there are any pellas of old songs you would like me to post, let me know! |

heh, i think it was me whining about the 6/8 but please Lisa, don’t let that discourage you! I actually love 6/8, or 3/4 waltz style arrangements to be specific (triplets!).
and it’s funny as i listened to AB’s version here, i was thinking it was in 3/4 but wasn’t going to say anything like last time. :) |

Oh Admiral! I take my hat off and salute you! This is absolutely divine — the music is as dalicate and lovely as Lisa’s pure voice.

I can see why this has so many recommends. After trawling the latest mixes for a good 25 minutes, yours breaths a fresh want to carry on. Clear sounds, mellow rhythm, gorgeous vocal chords…. just what I needed. Cheers
