Nice attempt. I would say try separating the sounds in the frequency spectrum to add more depth. All of the sounds seem to be hanging around the same frequency range as the vocals which is drowning them out. If you are not sure about separating sounds, do a google search on it or check out some tutorials at SoundOnSound.com

I would never have pegged that for an FL mix. It sounds like a band.

That said, I think the musical backing could use a little more variety to it. Just my $0.02. :)

To me, it sounds very much like an FL mix.

Hiya Snowflake No Problem I really liked your Vocals.
If your up for it drop me a line and I can forward you or post the stems maybe they could inspire you to improvise or write some further lyrics for it. I really want to expand it further at some time as at the moment it is really just a sketch of ideas.
Cheers Paul

Conceptually, you have the makings of a good mix, PW. The parts seem to be fighting each other. Suggest first mixing the drums so that sound like a tight kit. Think about what a drum kit on stage sounds like. Then add the bass in where the two make up about 30% of the audio bandwidth and are tight together. Then add the other parts in their own space wrt EQ and pan. If you think about how a band sounds on stage, it may be easier to visualize placement of parts left and right, gain, EQ and depth (delay and reverb).

Thanx for all the feedback. The mixing has been done totally on Sony MDR-V150 Headphones and so it has been difficult to get any ref point with respect to getting a balanced mix. Have updated the arrangement to replace my vocals with alternates as I didn’t like the performance or tone, but do look forward to mixing it properly when I can get back into the studio. (have been laid up with a ruptured Achilles since September and so cant get about too easily>)
In the mean time drop over to my Soundcloud page as it has a few other bits and pieces on it that I have been working with over the past couple of months. http://soundcloud.com/pw69
Cheers

Thanks, that’s probably the order that I would rank them. Mellow Groove was a development of Mellow Ambience again both programmed and produced in FL DVT V2 was just trying out some ideas with some new instruments Specifically Z3TA, Wusikstation and Alchemy.
