Nos/ve Release
About Me
Pronounce it however you want. I pronounce it NAWZ-vee Ruh-leece. But I’ll know what you’re talking about. Nos/ve Release has a long story behind it. Originally it was the acronym for a new product at my mom’s company: Network Operating System/Virtual Environment. Then Nos/ve Release was what was written on the red and black t-shirts that everyone in the company got—except my mom’s department, the tech writers. Miffed, my mom’s boss went out and put together homemade shirts with fabric letters and gave one to my mom. Eventually she gave it to me when I was a small child, 5 or 6. I slept in it because it was soft and warm. When I was cleaning the basement a year or so ago, I stumbled on Nos/ve Release again. No longer the voluminious shirt of memory, it was now a perfect babydoll size. After washing it, I started wearing it on a regular basis because it was very comfortable. People read the black letters and were frequently confused. “What’s that from?” And I’d tell them the story. But Nos/ve Release is also a mere gibberish phrase. It is meaningless in itself. And so is this. I am not a musician. I am not Nos/ve Release. But I like music a lot, and this is a comfortable shirt to wear.
