Over the past decade, Vietnam has emerged as one of the world’s fastest growing GDP as well as one of the fastest growth rates in power consumption. However, demand offsets the capacity for power generation, making this the main challenge for Vietnam. Industrial plants account for ~54% of Vietnam’s total energy consumption, followed by household with ~36%. To meet the challenge of growing energy demand, government reforms are underway to increase new generation capacity and allowing other companies to invest in power generation.
