Process
Imported Papa_Zulu's MIDI sample (man, what a breeze to work with MIDI). Sped up the tempo. Applied other software instrument sounds and tweaked the the MIDI layers. Used mainly Asian sounding instrumentation (e.g. Chinese Zither, Erhu, Indian Oboe, Indonesian Gamelan, Chinese/ Japanese drums).
Other Notes
I tried to think of how those new immigrants, so many decades ago, would have felt -- as they took the arduous and uncertain journey over the southern China sea to find work and a better life.
