How I Did It

by Ivan Chew
Samples are used in:
more...Tools I Used
GarageBand, electric guitar, my own voice.
Samples I Used
Shaker - GarageBand loop
Original Samples
Guitar tracks, vocals
Process
Recorded the guitar chords first (plugged my electric direct to my Mac). Then added a percussion (shaker) layer. Next, connected a $20 microphone and recorded my vocals. then tweaked the effects setting (lots of reverb, Flanger, Chorus).
Other Notes
I didn’t specifically plan to record a song. It started with my humming to the recorded guitar tracks. Then finding suitable lyrics from a yellowed copy of “Poems of Alfred, Lord Tennyson”.
