I used only the A and B sections of Kristin's vocal, leaving the section C out entirely. It's cool but it's in 6/8 and a different tempo. The vocal was wet and there was some bleed, I tried all kinds of gating and editing but in the end left it because the reverb they printed is a pretty good one.
I always liked the all-channels vibrato on NES/SNES game music. I tried mixes with live instrunment sounds, piano and guitar and drum kit. Also had a very chalky, distorted drum loop originally, but couldn't find a way to not have it be itchy and irritating underneath an otherwise smooth soundfeel, so ditched it for the 808/909ishness.
The production on the 2nd break is tongue-in-cheek - the cello part may be unplayable as written
