I took a slightly different approach than usual for this secret mixter when I drew Gurdonark.
I knew this match was going to happen sooner or later, and his out-of-this-world weirdbent palate is definitely completely at the other end of the genre spectrum compared to my normal (and much too sensible) pop arrangements. Gurdonark has been around for the entire ccM history and he has so many great samples that my head was spinning. I started by basing the song theme around a little C/FMAJ snip of his lush “Piano Soundtrack1” and then went through about another 20 of his tracks sampling sounds and turning them into midi instruments. Every sound, excluding my vocal and the snare is midi fired from a Gurdonark sample. I’ve never used this method before and it took me down a deep sampling rabbit hole and back. I then sliced and diced some swanky Admiral guitar noodling for the call/response lead guitar. Hope you like!
