Never Get A Turn

This is a kids song with a broadway feel to it. I envision it as sweeter in the verses, and rocking in the chorus. At the end, it breaks down into complete and utter chaos :’ )
This is my first submission to ccmixter. —— KEY: Ab (I intended it to be A, but surprised myself and sang it in Ab). Time: 4/4 FORM: AABCAABC BPM: ~104 (verse), ~90 (chorus) LYRICS: —————————- [VERSE1] I want to answer. I wanna participate. I’m raising my hand so high I’m almost scraping airplanes. [VERSE2] So why doesn’t teacher notice that I exist? She’s either mean or blind or maybe I’m invisible. [TRANSITION1] Last time she called on me I must have been at home. Maybe tomorrow will be different I don’t know. My faith in the teaching profession is pretty low. [CHORUS1] Because I never get a turn Nobody ever chooses me Oh, that I must endure a fate like this Because I’m always last in line No one gets to see me shine My mama said there would be days like this Because I never get a turn [VERSE2] Teacher’s reading a story ‘bout a train and a station. It’s so entertaining, yet I’m getting an education. [VERSE3] [Hah!] I’m sensing a question. She’s going to say it. “Please class can anyone tell me the part that’s your favorite?” [TRANSITION2] My arm is bolt upright, so tight so straight and strong. It would be crazy, inappropriate, stupid, and just plain wrong… …to call on anyone else, like—Suzy Wong?! Oh Come on! [CHORUS2] No I never get a, never ever get a, ever never, never ….
