Hi,

I just found this site efiddler and I am wondering whether I can use it for my ccM uploads or not. Is “royalty free” good enough for uploading it here?
I know that you’re not allowed to give legal advise here, just wanted to know your sites policy.

thanks,
remaxim

It’s always best to ask the artist/owner for permission.

The samples hosted by ccMixter all link to the reuses. Which is a great part of the design. Keeps things clean.

Outside sources are hard to keep track of. They are allowed with permission and whatever conditions the owner sets. For example- approriate CC licensing or public domain.

The ultimate solution is to convince people like efiddler to upload their samples here. : )

so is it a yes or a no? I m kind of confused right now. Is royalty free good enough or not.

(of course it is if it is under PD or CC, I know that ;) )

Royalty Free means you do not pay the originator of the sample.

As Ian says on his site:

You can use these royalty free in your release. Please include a credit to efiddler.com in your liner notes. The only prohibited use is inclusion in loop collections that are resold.

Simple really use them wherever just make sure to give Ian the credit in your mix comments.
