I also love Antony Raijekov’s pianos, and try to use them, too. The problem with classical piano music is the freeish tempo, which I find difficult to adjust to beat without excessive slicing. You seem to have this problem too, as the piano seems to be a bit off every now and then. I think it could be better hidden if the beat was a bit more irregular, or left off as you did on the solo part.

Anyway, beautiful mix.

Thanks Aamu. I probably should have mentioned something about the piano. Exactly what you’re talking about, I had some trouble with the free-tempo. But what a piano loop. I see A. Raijekvov has uploaded a mix. He’s definately “in touch” with music. I thought his piano matched perfectly w/ Lisa. I was actually going to do Cuckoo instead but changed vocal samples half way through. I might take your advice and do a drumless ambient Cuckoo mix sometime. : )

Forgive me if you know this but Fruity’s beat slicer will read regions from wav files so if you have Sound Forge you create regions there (and I’m guess Audacity can do the same). SF acually has an ‘Auto-region’ feature that will do a fairly good job at slicing the piece apart in one go, then you can tweak the results of that.

You can get very, very precise, down to the sample.

Then open a Slicer channel in FL and use the WAV button to load the WAV file. The default slicing will be ‘Use Sample built in slicing’.

You can then ‘straighten’ it out in piano roll because each MIDI note is mapped to a piano note. A tiny bit of delay (in tempo) and reverb on that channel will make up for a lot of ‘stiffness’ that can happen using this method.

The anal part of me totally digs the piano/string/vox and only that, while the usually open minded side of me has no problem with the bass/frum/fx noiz being part of the song .

Either way, I dig this remix and it certainly grows on me .

The piano performances are real pretty eh !
