This is utterly fantastic!

You’ve outdone yourself (and that’s not easy).

I’m almost afraid to remix this - it’s great the way it is - the insects… astounding.

Thank you so very much! This one makes me nervous in posting it because it is just so old and I’m very close to it. I do hope you aren’t afraid to remix it! In the hands of someone capable I think it could be much better than my original recording.

Thank you, PM. Writing these polyphonic vocal parts is actually incredibly fun and it’s something I’ve been meaning to get back to for awhile. It’s lovely to hear you say it’s technically on, as this song’s first incarnation was scribbled staves on the back of passenger count sheets when I was still flying.

I agree - I don’t know why you feel nervous about this one. It’s a mini masterpiece - original and fascinating. I particularly like the creepy, crepitant whispering. Brilliant piece of work! x

Why thank you Ms. Burns. :)
The whispering bit is the part I thought people would react negatively toward (seeing as it’s so effects-heavy and whatnot) but so far people seem to be ok with it. There are things I didn’t know my voice could do that are sprinkled in there. Making sound effects is fun.

Jacinda, I’d take my hat off to you right now; if I had one on—mind you. The performance is needless to say—hauntingly beautiful. But the text? Oh, the text! So delightfully crafted; it makes a fairytale junkie like me beg for more. It almost has Lewis Carroll’s “Alice” quality to it—that makes me smile. From author to author —much then MUCH respect…

This is honestly one of the most beautiful songs I have ever heard. Everything about this is expert and the second i heard it I knew i wanted to something with it. I am in the process of remixing this and would really love it if you would listen to it.

I’m honored to hear you say so and I would be delighted to listen to it, I listen to every mix of me. It is the least I can do to pay back such a compliment! Thank you very very much. :)

Oh I love and really hate this acapella. It’s one of the best I ever heard but I can’t put it in a song. I Can’t get a the timing in my system, wich only seems to be able to work with 4/4 4/3.

I completely understand. On these polyphonic choral pieces I get the complex time signatures out of my system. FWIW, you can drop this piece into a 6/8 or 3/4 shell and while you won’t necessarily get comfy 16 measure repeats, you can keep a consistent beat behind it. I do know this has been a source of headache for a lot of people though…I do appreciate your kind words about this one though!! :)

I know I allmost was there. But the approach I’m trying today is fitting my music to the vocals rather than fitting the vocal to my music.
But I won’t give up easely. Mayby I upload the stems as a remix pack to see if anyone else cracks it

Yeah - Like Deb I can’t believe that this has been on ccmixter for almost 5 years and I’ve never heard it! There is SO much uploaded you could spend all your waking hours on the site & still miss stuff. Anyway - it’s beautiful and intriguing and innocent yet dark - I agree with everything above!
