The title was taken from an essay by George Orwell. There’s no relation to the song, the book just happened to be on my desk.

This is actually pretty old, because I’ve been away a lot, so it was hard to find the time to really get into it, and also because, as or coming home last week, the WIP version was kind of bland. Smooth, perhaps, with some good tones, but also teetering on the verge of adult contemporary, so efforts were later made to add longs of swirling noises, and generally strange things up a bit.

The whole thing started with some experiments I was doing by using a vocoder to superimpose random samples on top of one another. This track in particular was built around combining KT’s voice with a drum loop, after which the guitars were added, and so on.

I’m actually still quite surprised at the sound of this guitar, mostly because it sounds so very much better without any sort of preamp, unless there’s something going on in my tracker that I’m not aware of. It’s especially impressive since I haven’t changed my strings in ages.
