For many years I have kept journals and occasionally I will revisit them to see what the man in me was thinking at that time. Recently the writings have metamorphasised into the lyrics of my recent offerings.

I am home today with a bad cold and sore throat but it seemed a great opportunity to have a “Paint Your Wagon…Lee Marvin….Don Mckuen moment”

Big thank you to Wilburson for this wonderful piano piece that has that intangible magic of composition and playing that warms the soul

If your walking to find your way back home along the roads to O Farrell street
Where Jan met Andy when the summer was all but gone
Stop by at Daniels and buy bagels and coffee
And tell Mellissa there is still a chance of love
Try talking politics without raising your voice but play the middle ground stay calm at all times
Take the trolley bus down to Fishermans Wharf
And watch the seals swim and laze on the wooden pontoons.

This will be your San Francisco morning

Remember to buy flowers for the pretty girl who cares who always asks you if you have time
And you know if you were wiser and just a little crazier
You’d run off with her towards the sunset holding hands
But even when your aching from the sores a good life brings
There’ll always be a smile upon your face
For you yes you and only you are the man who tempted fate

So when the time arrives to fly to dear old London
Don’t forget to put your arms around the girl from Half Moon Bay
She was younger so much younger and you were full of hunger
From the dryness of the ashes that you burnt along the way
