I think the whole reason for separating reviews and rating was to increase site interactivity. I think we should all try to make an effort to rate more. It only takes a second and I believe we’re all here for the feedback. I know it’s going to hurt getting a 2 without an explaination but it’s better than wondering if anybody’s listening. : )

Teru—I think you make a good point. It’s good to get both kinds of feedback sometimes, written and rating, and while there is no “right” kind of feedback, the
experience of being rated is always interesting.

I like to post songs at garageband.com, in which one is both reviewed and rated. The stars are somewhat revelatory, but the comments tell not only things that could be in the songs, but also let me know the sonic assumptions the reviewer brings to the work, which can be informative.

Still, I like the idea that folks can rate anything without needing to comment, and I agree with you that more rating, more interactivity, is a good thing.
