I can safely claim that I’ve listened to all your mixes here and without checking I think I’ve only heard one reggae tune from you before. Reggae s not my favourite genre but this key-based arrangement is very refreshing, personal and contemporary.
Fits the pella extremely well. Just shows what a sensitive mixer you are. So despite my genre preconceptions, I must admit I like this a lot.

Thanks Per,

Reggae comes quite a long way down the list of a thing I am comfortable with attempting and that’s why I played very little on it. Nearly every thing was sequenced or sampled but it seemed to fit quite nicely.

Groovy; far from being an awkward fitting of beat to vocal, this sounds like the mood and style the vocal needed from the outset.

I like that this isn’t Jamaican ska-style reggae, but an updated UB-40 Euro-reggae type of groove. The tightness of the resulting music puts the vocal right to the forefront.

Thanks admiralbob,

Your description is just about the way I saw it. Not really reggae but a pop/rock beat with reggae feel to it. I tried it with a reggae beat but it sounded awkward and with the pop/rock beat on it’s own it didn’t sound right either so in the end I kept the pop/rock beat and put some reggae type percussion on top.

i’d definitely have to include this in your greatest hits c.d. a truly enchanting marriage of pell & music, that sticks with you like a hit record.

This is very cool, Paul. I was interested to hear what you’d do with this lady’s sexy voice and you’ve worked wonders. As the Admiral says, it sounds like it was meant to be. Great track. xxxx

Such a groovy song haha. Your mixing is spot on and the pella matches perfectly with your accompaniment.
