Strangely enough, this mix reminds me of very early Bowie. Its probably the marriage between Anchors voice and this acoustic setting that does it.
Not your trademark sound but really beautiful. I like it.

finally- got here to hear this & Thanks! - one of the most unique “country-esque” expressions that could have ever been adapted to this lyric.
