a beautiful song, makes me feel good. the voice of Panu floating well above the sound of the bass and piano, everything is compressed so perfect, nice kick drum!! :D

Thanks DA! Much appreciate your kind comment!

A world-class mix, Spin. Love the feeling of tension and danger lurking in the b/t, it’s slightly unexpected twists and turns, which complement Panu’s voice and fantastic lyrics. Just excellent! xxxx

.
Thanks CB! Panu’s song about beauty and danger was impossible to pass up!

Red light district indeed. A great arrangement for this pella.

Great red light feeling and tension as ciggi says, I like both the detuned piano sound and its odd melody between minor and major.
I also feel for that overdriven guitar loong notes in the bottom. |
.
Thanks C! The honky-tonk piano melody is loosely based on a D7-9 chord.

a fine mix, Spin. haunting & sleazy as a back alley. the B/T is all about good tone & good notes. in all a beauteous job. much thanks.

.
Thanks for your kind comment, PM! I hope you don’t mind too much that I changed the spacing and syllable emphasis of your lyrics a bit from your very fine original. I wanted to experiment with a bit of a more steady driven rhythmic feel and this is where I ended up.

Superb modern blues mix. Excellent choice of sounds in the b/t, all sits perfectly here, the voice is sublimated. The piano is so delicious

Very cool spinny, I dont think I’d heard this pela before from the fine Mr Panu (Its very good) and what a fine way to get my first listen. I like the middle eastern feel and elements—

Well that’s a tasty combination of unexpected ingredients :-). I think I like the overdriven guitar and the bongo beats most but the piano has your particular fingerprints on it, which, as you well know I always look for in your mixes.
You’ve been rather prolific lately…must see what else you’ve done :-)…. |
.
Thanks Ms.E.! Being able to mess with slightly less usual ingredient combinations is one of my favorite aspects of making music without having to worry about a “market” or “target demographic” as perceived by an A&R department. :-)

Well, I’m glad I sat down and listened to some remixes today. Is this good? To quote Panu - “don’t ask”. Nice piano, drums, feel and all that stuff.

Really great stuff - the detuned piano, the callbacks, the guitar in the backroom laying down the Billy Gibbons groove, the jungle percussion…. yep, nothing in this that I don’t love!
|
.
thanks AB! I set the sound back a long way, so it’s pretty impossible to discern: it was Billy Gibbons on a slide guitar. :-)

The piano grabbed me right away. Just a fantastic remix Spin! I had such a hectic week and I am glad I found some time to check out a couple of remixes. I heard quite a few good remixes with Panu’s vocal and this is right up there with the best of them :)
|
.
thanks so much CH! Agreed - it seems that Panu has brought out good ideas in quite a few remixes!

That’s a beautiful full round bass sound you got anchoring this. The piano plinking out the melody is uncommon, almost uncertain, and also very very cool. Great mood and yet another example of how well panu’s offerings work in various settings.
|
.
Thanks for your kind comment, S! I guess it’s driven by the power of good story telling. And Panu certainly does that!

This is really great Spin!!!! Everything — the arrangement, the sound — one of my favorite remixes of Panu by far and maybe even one of my favorite Spin remixes too… BRAVISSIMO!

Thanks SJ! Did they give you a 4 minute and 4 second break? ;-)

I can’t tell you how much I love this…especially the piano…but also the vocals as they fit so well.

.
Thank you VK5JT ! Wow - I can’t believe you unearthed this from the depths of the ccM archives. Just in case you didn’t know already, the backing track is also available separately here, if you’d ever want to mess with it.

Thanks spinmeister. I was looking for the instrumental a short while ago and just gave up, thinking it wasn’t there. Much appreciated. I found this track because it has just been included in the Mixin Kitchen. p.s. where did you get the VK5JT reference? Are you a Ham too?
