This was going to be my last one for tonight, now I feel like I need to go watch some nuns talking about art to clear my head.
Essesq although I dont know you that well forgive me for saying you sound damn sexy.
Oh and very nice work Mr Spin

…and please give credit where credit is due.. the good Professor is an exquisite technician…I’m sure he could make anyone at all sound sexy, even a machine ;-).

sexy can’t be “fixed in the mix” :-)

permalink   spinmeister Sat, Jul 19, 2008 @ 1:26 PM
thanks AT - the version you listened to actually had a little bug - for some reason, one of the tracks didn’t get exported along with the rest of the mix (it’s fixed now). That will teach me to keep the same Cubase session open for 3 days :-)

I hope the movie with the nuns was good :-)

Nuns worked fine thanks, was that brass there last night? I of course am going to blame my lack of memory on alcohol although that excuse never did me much good in the past.

that brassy, swirly pad thing wasn’t there yesterday when you listened. I caught the missing track right after your comment so everyone else heard the right version - and now you have, too :-)

I saw a japenese import film once called Kung Fu Nuns. A bunch of kick ass sisters . Never found it again, think it was the original pilot for the Sound of Music, but the remake had to drop all the flails and moves because of the western censors shame eh.

Haha!

That_s pure fun and again a fine tune in tradition of cool synthesizer based music. And you did it so well again. You know, I love those sounds with this cool and relaxed beat. I love the part at 1:26 with this bell sound! And hey, fourstones is of course a hell of guitar player but don_t you have there an Ibanez guitar in your room?

The bass, is that your own “real” bass or any plugin? Sounds great on sound as well for the technical playing.

And in my ignorance I have to admit not knowing before these awesome vocals from essesq. What a surprise and a great one!

thanks TJ! — I just had to use fourstones’ guitar part - he is the master of the wakka chikka! :-)

The bass is a synth bass (Hypersonic 2 VSTi), to maintain a high cheesiness factor. :-)

However the original vocal performance from essesq was a lot more family friendly.

Glad someone has taken up this vocal, I had a go but couldn’t get anywhere - this just nails it!

thanks OD! I just couldn’t resist the temptation of the deep_breathing tag of the original.

Love it, love it, love it :-).

The overall feel of it is so perfect, ever so slightly cheesy, in a warm fondue sort of way ;-).

I knew taking this pella would be a challenge if anyone actually wanted to remix it (it was primarily meant as a stand alone bit of amusement) but your skill and creativity again shine through, Herr Professor. I am honored to be a part of this project. And hats off to my co- vocalist too :-).

For the record, Marika is a vocal artist in her own right, I recently spotted some confusion on that point elsewhere so I want to make sure it is clear here as well.

Robot Love has been around for sometime as many women across the world know.

Too dangerous for mains though so the Buzz word is `batteries.’

thanks for your kind forgiveness, essesq!

However I should clarify one technical issue you brought up in your response to AT above: sexy can’t be “fixed in the mix”. :-)

I have been thanked for allowing my vocals to be “messed with” by nearly everyone whose used one of them and I don’t know why. Isn’t that the reason we put them up? It is true that no one has to like what gets done with their stuff, but they don’t have the right to approve or disapprove of the use that their work is put to, imho. In the case of this pella the choice of words was certainly a potential spark for something like this. While I wasn’t about to create it, the seed was there it just needed nurturing ;-). So don’t be lookin’ for forgiveness from me ;-). Anyone who even considers using one of my creations has my unbridled thanks.

Get a glass of BEER! I really love this piece. It kind of reminds me of The Grid or Malcolm McLaren. Really enjoyable and groovy (that’s what Greg Brady used to say!! I wish Grace Jones could have come in and sang a few notes! Love the way you brought in Essesq to the mix. The wah wah guitar cuts into the spoken word here and there but that’s small stuff. The mood and vibe is perrrrrfekt!

I’ll refer you to the original pell, where it was basically all of your muscles group by group. It’s a technique that’s as old as audio relaxation exercises. Here, in this application, it’s anyone’s guess. Whatever works for you ;-).

thanks CL! Yeah, there are couple of times where the sweet voice of Ms. E. and the sweet guitar of Mr. F. go bump in the night. My only excuse is that I got too caught up in the moment to move the right faders. :-)

my “uh oh” was about the pell being in your queue…don’t know that that translated…as for Hungarians, I have nothing to fear from them/you, do I? I am not Hungarian, but I am frequently hungry :-).

haha - can it be I’ve been oversensitized about sensitivity? (might I suggest the ‘quote’ feature of replying to isolate the part you’re referring to)

meanwhile, the queue is large and things fall out even when not living out of hotels.

not me, but the special one in my life, (who also contributed that important word/phrase in the mix) is. My own lineage (first gen.) is a bit further northwest (think Kraftwerk or Tangerine Dream or Ableton Live or Cubase).

You know in this setting Ess sounds like a cross between Steve Winwoods/Carly Simons Kissing with Confidence’and then Kim Basinger when she was on the WAS Not WAS single `Shake your head.’

Now thats a pairing id like to be between aswell, but Steve can wait outside :-)
