I am a little puzzled by your “This time…” note. I always *intend* to post all my instrumental stems (unless they’re remixes of samples already on the site or just a click track). Sometimes they’ll be in a different location:

I’ve been posting pells and samples separately over the past year, following the examples of Scomber, Snowflake, and others. But the host’s quota enforcement seems to discourage this lately.

I will post pells and remixes separately whenever it allows me to publish my own contribution with a less restrictive license. In such cases, the pell and the remix may have different titles, so I try to add cross-links in the notes. But when I get busted by the quota daemon it trashes my workflow (often late at night), and I may forget to circle back.

Anyway, if you find *any* work of mine here on ccM that’s missing stems (or only appears as .mp3) it’s probably unintentional. Please comment on the post and I’ll either upload the stems or add a link to their location!

Oops, my bad. You’re right, you do always provide stems. Not sure why I said “this time”. Must of been thinking of someone else. Or not thinking at all. Sorry about that.

Or maybe I was thinking this time I’m only using your stems (well, almost only). I don’t know if a search would bear this out but I feel like I usually mix your vocals with other peoples stems. So to me this time was different, just a different different than I (mis)wrote. Again, my mistake.

Can I claim age related absent-mindedness? Couple days ago I poured cranberry juice on my All-Bran instead of one-percent.

Haha, thanks for that! I was hoping I hadn’t been screwing up these last few months. Absent-mindedness (age-related or not) is much in my thoughts these days, a disturbingly convoluted situation. We can share that…

I do share your Rrrr about people not posting stems. If (cc) value is the intersection of quality with freedom, then non-lossy source is one entire dimension of the site’s worth. GiGo, yes?

When I read the description, my interpretation was that you were the source of all the instruments as opposed to several others.
Usually, Speck will curate sax, keys, bass, piano, etc. from different artists and itemize the sources.
Your reputation is solid at ccMixter — you always provide stems and they are always available.

Agreed, Speck is amazing both for breadth of source and nuanced depth. And your reading aligns with a remix POV (i.e., whose “this time”?). My own accompaniments are so often perfunctory, perhaps I’d become overly attached to these.

this is crazy - the piano is like from a black and white movie - overall this could be from the 20s.
You got me hooked.

Yes! I think Speck kept the piano part relatively intact, though liberally sliced and spliced. Glad you enjoyed it.

It’s Mr. Yesterday turned up to eleven!
Bright, splashy, and bold — an excellent treatment of the original.
Diggin’ that funky jazz :)
