I listened to this using the ccmixter app on my smart phone while driving home. I liked listening to it in the car. At first I didn’t understand the title of the song. Then I was moved by how this track deconstructs and reconstitutes. Really well done.

Gosh, you are mixing up some beautiful, heart-squeezing mood pieces lately, Speck. I love this.

Well thank you. I originally had your Oh My Beloved Father upload from 2009 in the mix. I was moved by the recording and it was a good fit but in the end I couldn’t get enough volume out of it without also getting most of the noise so I didn’t include it. However, the ghost of it remains in my head (spent a lot of time trying to make it work) and I hear it when I listen.
Interestingly, I didn’t realize until just now (I hadn’t read the description when I downloaded it) that it’s a recording of your mother. I knew it wasn’t you (or assumed from the apparent age of it) but was somewhat befuddled as to why it sounded kind of like you. I even toyed with the idea of asking you to re-sing it. Glad I didn’t. It’s a treasure as is. And I thank you for sharing it. |

Speck, this is one of the loveliest responses ever and my mum would have been so thrilled. I wish there had been more recordings but at least this one is treasured by you, me and my sister.
