Another fab track. How do you do it, Scombs? You’re a super hero who’s turning into a bit of a big girl’s blouse with all those feminine secrets you have tucked in your shorts (I thought it was several pairs of socks). I must say I don’t feel very powerful. Maybe after another mug of coffee? Thanks for keeping me well entertained. I’m retyping something boring at the moment (unfortunately it’s something I wrote). xxxx

Oh I wish you weren’t so far away. Otherwise we could meet for a coffee sometime. I see we’ve both been excited by mykleanthony at practically the same moment as well. Spooky. xx

oh, kahuna Scomber. i like the clean, uncluttered living room feel here. SJ’s words & voice + your excellent musicianship are just excellent. (i do think the gain is a shade hot on this. a leetle soft limiting at maybe -6db might make it more intimate.) good stuff!

Thanks Panu, I’ve been playing around with some sound shape software that is supposed to model the acoustics in my studio. Auto shape was working fine until this one. I think it was the combination of SJ’s vibrato and range and the stacked mids.
Should use my ears next time rather than a faceless program. I pulled this one out rather quickly in less than an hour so part of the rush of blood meant a lazy approach to mastering. I’ve replaced the file with a more intimate approach to the sliders. Thanks for your sound advice bro. S x |

When I saw “showtune” in the tag, I was perplexed. What did that mean? Then I listened. It means you are a bloody genius! What a creative, unexpected treatment of this song. And your chops just continue to impress me with every new listen. Thanks again for picking me up — I’m so pleased I get to be part of your burning flame. (By the way, I too am finding myself painfully inspired lately…it’s getting me up way too early on a Sunday morning.)

Thank you for some insightful lyrics and a wonderful vocal.
I find it strangely easy to pick your key and anticipate your scales. I’ve replaced the file with a softer, more intimate one. I locked Ethel Merman in the garage, afterall it was a “showtune”. Nobody gets my jokes ;-) S x |

I agree with Panu sounds like you let the mixdown get away from you.
Whatever this is another great mix with a high standard of playing just needs to have those faders a little more under control and you’ve got a real winner here. |
