nice job. i might almost bring the backing mix volume down just slightly as it sometimes kind of overpowers the vocals but i like the mood you set.

Thanks MCJ, I had thought this too. I find it difficult placing Panu’s voice in the mix particularly when theres a lot going on in the band. His voice has a very big resonance in the low-mid range which is often shared by a the bass and piano player’s left hand. Any suggestions without squeezing up his shape higher? I’m tempted but the thing that attracts me to his voice is his acoustic like timbre and I don’t want to mess with that..

You know when this started I felt that the vocal did not sit quite right in the mix. Then as the mix progressed I got the feeling that Panu had just got up on stage with a band he had not sung with before and whilst not hitting the arrangement spot on all the time gave the song a life of its own.

What that all means is that I like it!!

Thanks RT, You got what I was trying to achieve in one!
As part of the mood, I wanted the house band to meander a bit, concentrate on emotion - rather than hitting the beat all the time. The piano and the drum rides become increasingly off center as the song progresses but tignten up again for each chorus for a resolve. Your’re also right in picking that Panu hadn’t sung with this band before. The band isn’t quite sure at the start, neither is Panu. Thanks Man!

a great ‘played live’ arrangement & feel here mr. S. your triple keyboard work swings free & easy and sounds just like a house band of old pros. thanks for findin’ this one and treatin’ her like a lady.

Cheers mate, great vocal and my best attempt at a clunky old live jazz band when in reality its nothing like it. Shoot! its 7 in the morning and I haven’t cracked a beer yet! Please forgive me Mr Moon ;)
