I´d say that you very close to your aimed sound. Last year I listened again to the “I Robot” album of Alan Parsons Project (after some 30 years) and I found similar moods of lonelines, fate and solitude!
I like your mix |
.
:) Thanks, Wired Ant! yeh, they’re
definitely an awesome band, loved their organically consistent themes & often literary approaches to whole albums, very kewl memories indeed! |

Sublime! I know I keep saying it, but you gotta great voice. In fact, every time I listen to you I hear more echoes of past popsters (Nick Drake, Ray Davies, Roger Hodgson …).

:) Thanks Javolenus, but I didn’t sing a note on this, that’s 100% Chris Horne. You’re just hearing a LOT of my added reverb & ADT, not an extra singer.
briefly considered adding additional vox in the faaar left channel but i thought that was 2 much & so i sorta solved it by mixing in his original track again & tinkering with the output… |

Hey, that’s funny! I was thinking, “Jeez, this guy’s got an amazingly adaptable voice!” Last week I complimented someone on their sax playing only to be told it was a keyboard with a sax “patch”! And so I like to make at least one faux pas per week!
But as for your vocal sound, I was wondering if you were using some kind of ADT effect (a la Lennon), so I guess that clears it up. I’m currently working on a song but have no words for it — it’s just an acoustic guitar chord prog with a tune. Maybe I’ll post it later if I get chance. |

That’d be awesome, yeh definitely upload it! I’ve been working on lyrics for your “Am120-StrummySongChords” tune, well “working” is an overstatement ~lol,
let’s say i’m taking lyrics i had with a completely different melody & rearranging then to fit ur instrumental. About 90% done but giving my poor neighbors a much-needed break b4 i record it :) re:”ADT”…4 me it’s actually faux ADT most of the time, i’m actually singin it again but the sound is very similar if i watch the placement; didn’t know Lennon used that but guess Jeff Lynne did 2, great info 2 know, thanks man! |

altho I sometimes do a live ADT thing with the whole loopback thing thru the computer, but my mssoundmapper always rewards me with a headache

Hi and thanks for this. I think Lennon liked ADT and reverb on his voice, while McCartney often used totally dry vocals (the difference is really apparent on the “Revolver” album). A fantastic book on how the Beatles recorded all their songs is called “Revolution in the Head” — best book ever. And, yeah, OK, I’ll upload my “song”, which is currently called Gm120-DooDooNaaNaa !

nah, thanks 2u for uploading all ur incredible tracks! ~will have 2 look for “Revolution” at the library…intriguing tune u wrote, great changes! i’ll definitely come back 2 it when i get a few things off the dock, or i’m apt not 2 finish anything at all(…a perpetual problem i have!)thanks again!!

hey Wired! actually, i’m using the term incorrectly, sometimes i’m creating an “automatic double tracking”~like sound by dubbing, rather than recording a real-time signal that was slightly delayed.
so technically it’s overdub, it’s not “automatic” & it’s not ADT. hope that helps :) peace |

:) hey Wired Ant!**** (i thought this link had a great explanation, better than i could do),****
