I like that simple percussion panning about a bit in my headphones, leading into a nice little chill melody. The drums are nice, but a softer percussion like a brush might work better for me.
The integration of the vocals into the melody is nice—the fx and delay you’ve applied work very well here. This is very smooth and simple, a nice downtempo feel. I wonder if it would work even better about 10 bpm slower, through the melody works very well as it is now. I like this one because the music complements the spoken word, and makes the spoken word more distinct and interesting—it’s music properly used as part of a multi-media, and not vocals jammed over a “look at my chill melody”. I also think you’re right to clock in where you do, at 2 minutes, even though you could have but chose not to put in a little keyboard break between two sections of the spoken word track.
This is a good listen. Thanks for sharing it.

Gurdonark, I love your reviews man! So much insight, thanks alot!

Yeah, I feel what you’re saying about the drums… I’ll definately mess with it some more.

The timing of the spoken word was just luck, as I picked out Duckett’s track by chance after I had already made the melody at 73 bpm, and it seemed to fit nicely.

Thanks again.

This is definitely on the right track for my ears as well. I keep coming back to this remix for the 3rd or 4th time now and it’s rapidly growing on me. For my ears on my main listening speakers, the drums maybe just a touch distracting as well, but really a nice piece overall.

Awesome job! I love the smoky smooth simplicity of it, but still very attentive to dynamic shifts- thanks for remixing me.
