Well I got to thinking about substitutions that if any chords share 2 tones, you can swap them . When I was playing along with your vox I hit a major chord by mistake in the verse and it sounded interesting.
Fm /E dim /F maj /C7.
I always had a hard time using the dim chord and it finally came to light when you recorded this tune.
The only time I used the dim chord was a half step below the minor chord that follows,
In this case you use E dim and F minor. E dim has E G Bb which are also contained in the C7 chord
(C E G Bb) which is the 5th of the root so that’s why it works and I thank you for clarifying that up haha.
That is actually a real trumpet sample. I uploaded all stems as well as some of yours recycled.
