As a singer I am drawn to the human voice in its many forms. The ability to sing in tune and keep to a scale is fine but it’s everything In-between that creates the magic. I remember the first time I heard David Crosby, Leonard Cohen and Joni Mitchell. It was as if I had entered a new world. Their voices took me on a fantastic journey and one that I am still travelling.
So it is with Anchor. He would be the first to admit that his voice is not one that follows a strict musical criteria but at the same time he manages to take us with him on marvellous journeys. Despite all this I do find myself “tampering” with the notes in his vocals but I do this not to get him back to a strict melody but to try and enhance the beauty of his voice. This is another example of a fine wordsmith creating a pulsating collage of words wrapped up in a bundle of goodness |
