Like the backing track soul funk jazz groove. Like the vocal in the mix. Didn’t like extreme vocal vibrato shaking parts.

Thanks, yeah I think I’m gonna try that again. I was trying to remove the modulation and made it worse then I saved it so I couldn’t revert.

Exquisitely slow soul/funk. Feels great. No sharp corners. Plus all those stems - thanks.

this is a beautifully performed & produced track. i think it would be better without the effects on Rebecca’s voice because we miss a lot of the transients and nuances in her phrasing that way. by the same token, i wouldn’t use melodyne on Gladys Knight’s pipes.

Thanks for the review. Yeah, my normal process is to get some basic structure with the vocals using ableton. I use the complex pro mode which has few artifacts. After I’ve adjusted pitch and time I then try different processes to fine tune. It’s weird though, I think some of the subtle artifacts are calculated to extremes and the result is this crazy hyper modulation thing.

I also noticed when I followed the lyrics that some phrasing was lost…so definitely gonna have another go at it.

I use ableton because it’s so easy and I’m wicked fast with it, but I think it might be time to let it go for pitch and time manipulation…still my favorite host though.

Thanks, I’m still trying to tweak these vocals. This track is a bit of an experiment right now.
