Congrats on completing your first remix!
I usually don’t provide whatever constructive criticism comes to mind when reviewing, but as you’ve specifically asked for some, I shall oblige. My favorite parts of the song are where there are no vocals, partially because I can’t stand the timbre of my own voice played back, but mostly because, as I mentioned to you when you notified me of your undertaking of this project, the vocals aren’t straight forward rhythmically speaking (verses start on the upbeat). In addition, the version I’ve uploaded here isn’t’ 100% rhythmically accurate (as I also mentioned) so that pulls me away from the mix and leaves me fixated on the timing. This could also be because I’ve listened to the original mix a bazillion times, most people might not have the same problem. Also, you chose to make a chorus of a line that I created for live performance and never used in the mix because it doesn’t make sense/sound silly without the Occupy hand signals to visualize The instrumentals themselves are pretty cool. Dig the occasional horn build, chill piano prog, and, mellow scrathing. If it were me, I would lay in a light pad or something in the background to tie everything together and provide atmosphere. The mids/Highs are pretty clear, the only EQing I might do is on the low end, getting that kick to punch through the bass. Thanks for the remix, wonderful reinterpretation! |
