Most of what I do is to try to take poetry and folk songs from a variety of languages and cultures and try to give them a new spin. Having studied the languages and cultures of the countries in question (especially those of Eastern Europe) and fallen in love with the richness of the poetic and musical traditions of these areas, I’ve tried to filter them through a very different musical sensibility and see what comes of it.
