Matthias started playing Reggae because of Bob Marley. In 1996 he lived in St. Anns Bay Jamaica for three months up in the hills. He taught himself to play guitar during the three month period in a 20 x 20 camp that he and the local rastamen built. He has played the Djembi since 1992.


Matthias has recorded hippy music with the band “Three”(1990-1996). After Three broke up, Matthias recorded various Hip-Hop/Reggae albums.


By 1999, he jumped into the Drum’n Bass scene and recorded various D n’B sessions w/ D.J. ZSonic & D.J. X-Static {Zack and Christina Broussard}. The album that resulted was entitled:”Rush’n Roll’n -Seen!” {under the alias: M.C. Rasta} Matthias has recently dropped the “M.C.” and is simply known as “Rasta” (and even Sun Rasta). His moto is that “everyone is a rasta.” At least he considers everyone to be a “rasta.”


He states “So, if my song may say: Rasta’s survive through a time of exodus and tribulation… {consider yourself to be a part of that vibe}…”


“…All it takes is…when you think (the end) is near…follow the Rastafarians to a giant Reggae and Drum n’Bass show somewhere in Africa (Ethiopia)…and then we will all meet our higher selves. Seen. Marcus Garvey said ‘Africa for the Africans!’
