Uses samples from:

Tools I Used

Logic 9
ULTRABEAT for the drums..
Macbook Pro with my trusty HD25 headphones.
Maybe more synths get used as I go along, who knows... Other hardware will come into play when I reach further.

Samples I Used

Samples were found on a page highlighting the artist Shannon Hurley.
License?? Non commercial something i think...

Original Samples

The beats were created wholly in LOGIC PRO using the ULTRABEAT plugin.

Process

1. The stems were loaded into an empty project which was set to the songs original tempo of 124 BPM.

2. Turned on FLEX MODE so that the software would analyze the audio files. Then I upped the tempo to 127, a more clubby tempo in my opinion..

3. Loaded ULTRABEAT and made a 4 bar loop, created my beat then I "separated the region by note pitch" which basically puts each instrument (kick, snare, hats etc) on a different channel.

4. looped each track on the timeline until it was about 6 mins. long then started muting or deleting regions to hear different arrangements.

5. Started to adjust the levels of the different instruments.

6. Aural fatigue setting in so I need to take a break and come back at it in a day or 2 :) Need to tackle the bassline with the flex tool. It wanders at times. Finalize the arrangement then start to add FX and transitions. maybe add a synth or a string line. Not sure yet.

Other Notes

I love the track and her voice. It grabbed me immediately so I downloaded the stems and forgot about everything else. The lyrics fit my current situation so I can relate. I don't want to change the vibe and the "human feel", I just wanna make it clubby and move your feet..

I'm a dj we like mix friendly tracks hence the ramp at the beginning that doesn't make sense to the non mixing public.. I'm gonna play this
