How I Did It
Uses samples from:
Tools I Used
DAW: Pro Tools LE
Synths: Reason Adapted, Sampletank 2
Loops: Abelton Live
Guitars: Godin LGX3 w/Amplitube
Other toys: T-Racks EQ for the "phone voice", Izotope Vinyl for the scratchy record sounds and various compressors, tremolos, reverbs and delays
Keys and synths were played with an M-Audio 44-key controller.
Samples I Used
I used Calendar Girl's vocal track predominantly throughout. These were processed with reverbs and delays to get that airy sound. I also ran a section through T-Racks for the "phone voice" parts.
For the scratchy parts, I took elements from her original take of the tune and processed them using Izotope Vinyl to get the scratchy old '45 sound.
I also took two drum loops from Apple Garage Band (two Motown loops) and cut them up to get that drum n' bass loop sound. All other loops were stock from either Sampletank and Live
Original Samples
Apart from stuff previously mentioned, all the pads, "rhodes", and guitars were played with two hands.
Process
All the pieces were put together in Pro Tools, with some ReWire to Reason and Live.
