with time, the patient ground (ft. zikweb)

I’d never heard any of Zikweb’s work before so I had a lot of listening to do going back through his archive! The main piece I settled on came from way back in April 2006. I really liked the drone and space which allowed a lot of impro on the shakuhachi. I considered writing new words but the whole vibe of the piece kept drawing me back to my previously-recorded spoken word piece ‘elements’ (which was written in Japan in 2012, first published in Poetry Magazine (US) in 2013 and this year appeared in my tropeland collection.)
Thanks to Zikweb for your excellent original work and to ccmixter for the opportunity once again to create new work via random synchronicity! The original audio and text of the poem are here: http://ccmixter.org/files/r...
