I hope someone else will have a go at this. Here is my concept mix but despite lowering the pitch of my voice and adding lots of vocal boost, I don’t think the spoken word is punchy enough.

The Gun

He is the gun

Secretly carried

In a shoulder holster

Beneath the heavy jacket.

He is all defence

And going off half-cocked

At shadows.

He is the gun

Which points its accusing finger at me.

He is protection and fear

With no guarantee.

Cold as steel. Volatile as gun powder.

He is “trust me”

With a safety catch

Fitted to his own

Trigger-happy hand.

He is the gun

That looks for a bang;

Selects targets

To make victims

Of his fixed sights.

He is the gun going off

In the dark of night.
