I am an independent film maker doing a film about a kids’ story (and wanted to use a cc loop as part of my sound track) I don’t know what the future of the film will be…but if I was to receive funds to air it for broadcast …would that make this a commercial use? The artist’s clause says “non commercial use”

If you receive any remuneration related to the work, it is deemed commercial. You can contact all of the artists involved (including the producer and any artists who provided samples used by the produced) to see if they will grant you a commercial license. Otherwise, there is loads of fabulous cc-by licensed music available that you can use in a commercial project as long as you provide proper attribution per the license terms. You can search through our sister site dig.ccmixter (and filter for “free for commercial use”) or you can check out the music created by the ccMixter community specifically for video use as part of our “ Tubed by You” remix event. Good luck!
