"deep_house" tag is split on save?

I tried to tag my latest upload as “deep_house” since that was one of the requested genres for the Emergence project, but the tag ends up getting saved as two tags: “deep” and “house”. Interestingly, I tried tagging it as “tech_house” and that worked just fine without splitting.

Weird.

This is is a bit of a guess, and hopefully Victor can confirm whether it is true, but it seems like some tags are parsed and rewritten in order to scoop up more tracks under a consistent tag.

For instance if you put in Stratocaster, you’ll find it gets rewritten to Strat. I wonder if something similar is happening here?

Ahh… that would actually be a very nice feature. Especially in cases where it’s not clear what you should put: “drum_and_bass”, “drum_n_bass”, “d_n_b”, or “dnb”?

Aha, that would also explain why my “old_school” tag appears as “old_sch”. I thought I’d made a typo, but maybe not!
