Now that is some mighty fine song writing. Smartly expressive.

This is a great mix, Robert. I wrote this track in 1996. It´s got a lot of remixes with different lyrics and vocel lines but you realy hit the nail. I like your lyrics very much. Lines like “But my first lesson in first aid was in the twilight zone” are so well written.
Thank you very much.

Hi Stefan, that’s good to hear. I’m so glad you’re happy with the use I’ve made of the sample. Obviously I was unaware of its history so I just had to follow my own instincts, which were to underpin it with percussion rather than try and elaborate on it musically. What attracted me to it was that it has a kind of primal force, and I knew I didn’t want to diminish that with a complicated mix. Also I don’t really have the chops to do a complicated mix, which may have been an advantage on this occasion!

Powerful imagery, RW

“Hyena played a xylophone with bones”
I can picture that

It’s always a plus for me when some image or phrase that’s been floating around in my head for apparently no good reason suddenly finds a home in a poem or a song!
