I hear music

Lovely. Soul-touching words set to a gorgeous backing track. It’s wonderful to see you here, Joel. Fantastic work.

I feel so honoured to be featured in this secret mixter…I have not been able this time to remix.

Your words fit perfectly. Thank you also for your kind words.

If you don’t mind I would be very happy if you can upload your vocal track as a separate sample. I would love to extend the work on it.

I shall be uploading the vocal track soon. It is very ill sounding (not in a great way) so I may re-record it or re-emote it soon and then you have your pick of the bunch!

It was a pleasure working with this track so thank you for supplying it!!
Cheers!

I think that one challenge in doing a backing to a vocal track is to avoid the temptation to drown out the vocals with the music. You avoid that pitfall here, and create a backing appropriate to the vocal track which fits with it quite well.

It is always my starting point… What fits. I usually just start with a word or two that come to mind upon the first listen of the work. I often pair it down in a second edit of the word-smithing in order to allow the original track to still speak loudly. Then the final step is to spread the backing track to the left and right that makes the vocal track ‘speak’ right down the centre. I find it much easier to balance a track when the backing track and the main vocal each have their own space on the stereo field.
Thanks for listening!
Cheers!
