Yeah baby!
I actually just had a gig in Vegas last week..I should add this version to my permanent repertoire. I about died when the handclaps came in!

Hehe. I like it! I wish the instruments sounded a bit more real, and only because live this would be so totally awesome. Can’t get the piano riff (about 2:05 in) out my head. You prove once again, you are the daawg!

Also perfect for “Seventies TV Variety Show”; all it’s missing is a vibraphone solo, and some audience applause at the fade-out, complete with glib voice-over: “…Coming up next- Wayne Newton and Charo!”

Last time I was in Vegas a Cat stole my fish dinner. But later that Cat got up on stage and brought the house down.

I have just hidden my fish and chips!!

Great idea that works so well!!

DogH’se-
even though this so way beyond tongue-in-cheek as to be a parody - its still so intelligent, so well crafted, and so damned funny as to clearly rise into the category of “Art”. Stands on its own as a unique creation and has plenty of pouncy verve too (‘especially the lounge-hoedown interlude).

Heads-up - this will sound like criticism at first. Mostly because it is. But fret not; there shall be something positive at the end. I hope.

I think this track could have really benefitted from some more restraint in the production. The selection of sounds is often more distracting than good (brass section, piano, crash cymbal, …).

But here’s the kicker - musically it’s one of the best damn tracks I’ve listened to in a while. The melodies and harmonies you’ve come up with are just outstanding.

There’s a core idea here that’s so good it hurts me to think about it. May I have a go at the track? That is to say: please?

Wail, I could give a rats ass if you have a “go at it” or not. Hell, you kin wallow in it for all I care. Does that mean I got to do anythang in any way to make that happen for ya? Cause ifn it does yor chances get purty slim. Now I got a question fer you Labcoat, ol pal. In that there tune that you and TheJoe did that was so damn wonderful they was some horns that I, my ownself, would describe as dangtastic. You might, or might not…bein so damn priggish an all, agree. But my question is this: Did you or TheJoe actually play them horns in or are they one a them loop thangs? Cause ifn ya played em in, and they come from some horn sample package or other then you and/or TheJoe are to be commended in the extreme for both your discerning ear(s) and yor performance abilities. But ifn ya didn’t then don’t forget ta put yor glue and little rounded scissors up after play period’s over. Course, I say that with love.

Well, TheJoe is responsible for both brass and saxophone; and I believe the brass was loop-based (but manipulated), and the saxophone was recorded on keyboard. But he would have to confirm that. I was blissfully unaware of much of the process, and just watched as files would arrive in my inbox, as little treats being carried in through the window by lickle birds and squirrels.

Doghouse Riley!

As I or better Colab wrote in the “How I did it”, I didn_t played neither the brass nor the saxophone phrases. I would be a lucky man If I could do so!

But as also already mentioned I manipulated here and there a few things where it was necessary to suit the song harmonies.

I would be great to have a synth that is able to play phrases like these, similiar to the VSL library e.g. I think there are a few, but I don´t know them, I don_t have them, I don_t want them (not yet)

We had a discussion on RW about “good” and “cheesy” sounds.

Of course it is nice to have the perfect sound, but I think you have done here a good job on synthbased(?) sounds for brass and what else. For me it_s the composition that_s more important and this isn_t bad or is it? :-)
