i work fast, i have realised when i edit my music, it tends to get worse so what you get is usually the first (or second) take. i tend to make lots of songs at a time, then take a bit of a break, then start again. I paint, and I find that when I dont feel motivated to make music, I paint a bit and it all comes back - my theory is that the “creative” side of the brain doesnt need much to “spark” it off, so if you ever are BLANK or empty, go listen to the beatles, mirvana, prince, or whatever inspires you, go for a walk, or paint somethig - i guarantee you will come running back to make a killer song!! I checked my iPOD, and I have 60 songs on it which were made LAST YEAR alone, most are crap, but there are at least 10 good ones.. I have problems mastering (who hasnt!), and it is my lifetime ambition to get it right. I love Ableton and all products associated with them. Gave up on Cubase and Reason years ago, and getting better with ableton each year. Im always on the lookout for samples, I have thousands of samples at home which I am now bored of and need more to feed me… I use NI FM8, Korg Legacy wavestation, m1, ms-20, MDX, etc ableton effects and instruments - cubase is picking up dust right now. I try to use lots of free stuff, like the Dreamstation 1. I have a website which has been “under construction” for a number of years, I tend to put some of latest songs on there… I also enter the garageband.com competition to get feedback, but I tend to do quite badly - no one understands me… I love CCMixter, its a small, music minded community spreading love and togetherness in the name of excellent music making. I love it, and hope it continues in this way. I have met excellent people on CCMixter and love the collaboration feature.
