Artist Spotlight: Gurdonark![]() From his earliest remixes here at ccMixter over three years ago Gurdonark (aka Robert Nunnally) made it obvious he was a special talent. His music seemed especially suited to film and video soundtracks and sure enough, since we’ve started keeping track of ccMixter music as it was being used in videos, Gurdonark became the overwhelming choice of film and video makers across the web. He has gone on to found the well-respected net-label Negative Sound Institute which specializes in Creative Commons licensed ambient music. Sample Pool: AudioCookbook.org The latest Sample Pool we’ve enabled on the site is Audio Cookbook which specializes in sound design and releases it samples under a Creative Commons Attribution license. In fact, Audio Cookbook releases a new sound design each day. Peter Kirn from Create Digital Music says: “Sound design secrets have traditionally been closely-guarded secret sauce. But in the age of the Web, the opposite is happening: people can actually enjoy sharing what they’re doing, just as passionate cooks chat about recipes on food blogs.”By agreeing to implement the Sample Pool API (a cinch with any Wordpress music blog) Audio Cookbook is allowing remixers here to easily incorporate their samples and attribute the site in their credits. |
