ccMixter is a community music site featuring remixes licensed under Creative Commons where you can listen to, sample, mash-up, or interact with music in whatever way you want.

Remixers If you’re into sampling, remixing and mash-ups grab the sample packs and a cappellas for download and you can upload your version back into ccMixter, for others to enjoy and re-sample. All legal.

Video makers, podcasters and music lovers If you’re into music, browse this site to hear some of the great remixes people have built from sampling music on this site, all licensed for use under Creative Commons license.

Cool Music

We are proud to let you know that that best of ccMixter is being compiled into a weekly “radio” playlist available courtesy one of our very own, MC Jack in the Box. MC Jack is a long time mixter and runs our buddy site Remix Fight.

The weekly shows he puts together here are more than just a cool thing for the site, they are fantastic shows with great flow. Jack not only has turned in some of the site’s great mashups and remixes, turns out he’s a gifted spinner as well.

Call for Remixes: Shannon Hurley

When Shannon Hurley started uploading a cappellas from her “Ready to Wake” album to ccMixter under a Creative Commons license there was an immediate buzz amongst all the producers and DJs here. When she revealed that she’s going to release an album with the best remixes on it we jumped at the chance the help her out.

Shannon has been spotted by Rolling Stone as one the “top 25 bands” on MySpace and her album of is already playing on Indie 103.1FM and XM Radio. Her voice can be heard along side Brie Larson and her band has opened for Jesse McCartney, Gwen Stefani, Gavin DeGra and the Black Eyed Peas.
