Tools I Used

- Studio Project B1 large diaphragm consensor microphone
- Presonus Firebox
- Dell Laptop
- Kristal Audio Engine (for recording)
- FL Studio 6 (for the drum samples, sequencing, and reverb effect on the vocals)

Samples I Used

- Drums are from the FPC drum kit that comes packaged with FL Studio

Original Samples

- Vocals are me

Process

1. Sequenced the sparse drum loop and exported it to wav
2. Imported drum loop to Kristal Audio Engine (KAE) and looped it for a couple minutes
3. Recorded the lower vocal
4. Recorded the mid vocal harmonies
5. Recorded the improv lead vocal (with an attempt at a trumpet-like effect)
6. Exported the mix, and imported to FL Studio
7. Added the reverb to the vocals using the ambient preset on FL Studio's default reverb effect
8. Exported the individual samples from FL Studio and KAE, and then zipped them up

Other Notes

I sort of applied Victor's advice (http://ccmixter.org/forum/viewtopic.php?t=1587), except to recorded vocals. I built it all one layer at a time, and then cut out parts at different times. I'm pleased with results, and I plan to either expand this or try another one with the same method.
