I want to know what you guys use to make these remixes, advice for making music and is my first upload ok at least? (i’m not great at this.)

Your track, Zis is a textbook example of how to upload original material.
* You’ve provided an intended mixdown of all the separated parts.
* You’ve provided lossless files to work with, including the preview.
On its own, the preview can be most useful because you haven’t used lots of processes on it that can’t be undone.
Therefore, a producer can adjust its levels to match their material (drums, instruments, vocals), rather than compete with it.

I think this is, in fact, an excellent track. I’m a longtime fan of Kraftwerk, and not every one of their tracks were “bangers” or commercially successful. But they were definitely original, well produced, and highly memorable.

Your track hearkens to Kraftwerk and the “post-techno” work of artists like Solvent and Lowfish.
There is definitely an audience for this, both for content creators and collaborators.

I’m an outlier when it comes to remixing. I use Madtracker2 for everything, it has never failed me. Everyone but me seems to have millions of dollars for all of the state-of-the-art DAWs.

My number one, most important, best piece of advice is: reach out to other members here. Form friendships and exchange ideas through forum posts and reviews. Turn those usernames into actual people, and before you know it, you’ve got a second family.

Well, it depends on wether you want to use freeware stuff or payed stuff. I will give you some free stuff to begin with, cause when you are going for the payed things you realy must invest a lot of money to start….


DAW (i know there are better, but they are payed): OpenDaw, this is an online open source DAW, i have never tried it, but the reviews i saw on youtube said it was decent to start with. Another free DAW and more of the sort i work with, is Waveform by Tracktion. And to close this part you also can use reaper, it is not totaly free but gives you all options for three months whereafter it gives an anoying message at the start, but you can click that away and still use it. A DAW is the main basis of your workflow and music.

To work with your DAW you need instruments. As a very good and free one I would suggest Vital vst and Surge XT vst, which are both very good software synthesizers and capable of making a very broad perspective of sounds.

And last but not least, i would suggest you get the Kontakt player free version, and see what a lot of library stuff is around you can get to make music, there is a lot of very good sounding freeware libraries out there.

Don’t let the things intimidate you. Go and watch some tutorials on youtube or elsewhere, and make a start. You dont have to be musicaly schooled to do it, and the most important things to do it are your ears, creativity and enthousiasm.

Oh, they’re more than just ok. I appreciate that you got it right (the upload process) the first time. And your sounds/style are very appealing. They inspired me immediately.

What do I use?
For remixes I use Soundforge for chopping and altering samples and AcidPro for arranging/mixing. But that’s only because that’s what I started with and that’s what I’m comfortable with, I’m not recommending them. They’re actually considered obsolete by most of the youtube music producer’s ‘rate the DAWs’ videos I’ve seen.
I did have Reaper for a while and it is a highly regarded and highly capable DAW, and free (or pay what you can?). I think if I were starting over I’d download various free trial versions and see which one feels the most intuitive to use. Don’t want the inspiration to be bogged down by the process. (They all do pretty much the same thing.)

there are tons of DAWS, plugins, etc. etc. I believe you use LMMS - I used it a while back — a great DAW.You can go along way just using EQ and compression, you don’t want get lost in a forest of plugins and their presets.

I believe the most important thing is to use your ears. Listen back to what you ve just laid down, pause, listen again.
Listen to other music.
Play an instrument, if poss.
