Is that sweat on your brow TFT?
Avoid cliches is my advice.
Particular rhymes for the sake of rhyming always does my head in and risks making the song seem contrived and insincere.
For a love song to work it has to be honest and emotionally connected ( Unless you are Paul McCartney who gets away with crappy rhymes because his melodies are so insanely good)
As much as he’s a total dag, Lionel Richie has it wired.
It also helps if you don’t seem to give a shit; in his prime Neil Diamond delivered some of his best following this stategy.
I’ve been told I was conceived to one of his songs. Thanks mum, way too much info.

Oh and I forgot, write it in the key of C major, avoid Em at all cost - unless you want to re-pen it has a breakup song at a later date..

The link underneath the smiley face was to a video of my fave Australian comedy band, “Axis of Awesome.” I moved the link out in the open so it would be more obvious.

Wrt avoiding cliches, Axis of Awesome agrees very much with your assessment.

Had to look “dag” up.

Oh, didn’t notice it was a link!
Us Aussies are a bit slow.
Axis of Awesome speaks the truth. These guys rock.

Oh and by “dag” , no slur on Old Lionel, I was refering to this meaning (not the sheeps bum bits)

dag :
“affectionate insult for an odd, idiosyncratic person
He’s a bit of a dag but we love him.”

Read the same urban slang web page to look up “dag”.

I figured you were using the affectionate version.

Btw, I recently took the Cartoon Taxi tour. Leon and Ross Lorraine make an awesome collaboration.

Oh! Love song makes me feel so important! Doing and creating love song needs wide imagination and passion in music. Good Luck to all those who will try composing love songs.
