Is this the story of the OG remix crossover hit? I think it is. Apologies if this isn’t up your street, but I saw this today and thought of ccmixter. Suzanne Vega writes an essay on how she wrote ‘Tom’s Diner’ and how it got to be the first major example of a remix/bootleg crossover. It’s also cool to read what she has to say about writing, recording, remix culture, evil record labels, live shows, etc., etc. AND there’s a scan of the lyrics. Read it here. Amazing.
