This vocal sounds just right in this genre. Great skill in the mix. (Diggin’ the Diamond In The Back organ line.)

We don’t drive big ol’ Cadillacs or Escalades. Yet, we gots to love Curtis Mayfield … and Bobby Womack!

Your recollection of important music is critically notable. While we’ve not heard of the song referenced, the similarities are uncanny.

Big brains, Speck!

Quote: texasradiofishBig brains, Speck!Hah, more like big age. I was 18 when it was a hit in ‘74. A ‘one hit wonder’ by William DeVaughn (actual title Be Thankful For What You Got), often mis-attributed to Curtis Mayfield, and covered (and sampled) by many others since then.

It doesn’t get much better than this! Perfect mix and a Furious production to boot. Love the crispness of them guitars. I have this vocal in holding pattern but I am not sure I want to touch it after listening this this lol. Now for another listen.

classic, so many different chord progressions and beats fit this great melody- love the playing, the guitars have a great 70s Philly sound to them.

Love that organ… sounds like the stuff you’d hear on old Tower of Power. And that crispy crunchy guitar is lovely.

I can’t tell you how many bands I’ve been in that I wanted to sound pretty much exactly like this song.

But don’t worry about the Rev. Al. He hasn’t gone anywhere. :)
