I love the opening sounds going round and round like the little ballerina in her faded net skirt. Delicately pretty with the stretched-wire tension of ‘Petrouchka’. This is how the music box ballerina dances in secret. Quite, quite magical.

I was recently driving through a small town in Maine and saw a sign for a Musical Wonders Museum. I stopped/found it and I even had my field recorder with me. Sign on the door said antique music boxes and musical machines. Unfortunately they were closed that day. But if I ever get back there…

& those really cool nickelodeon ‘Orchestrion’ player pianos from early last century, in the 70s i think the ones they made, all th paper came from Wichita—i think— oh—& dont forget calliope carousels! Great stuff, hope u get back 2 there sometime & record some one-of-a-kind audio, those were the days when life was more * * * * |

“This is how the music box ballerina dances in secret. Quite, quite magical” I love that from Ciggi—pretty much sums up what goes on in my head—she has a dark mischievous side though—the ballerina not Ciggi.
I love hearing what you do with samples—never ever what one would expect and that’s quite an achievement. Excellent work |
