thanks so much for the kind words.

here are the lyrics:

the roll is being called / are you here, are you here
good people why are you silent / is it confusion, is it fear
in case it isn’t obvious, this is your cue
your turn has come around and it’s time for you to choose
your turn has come around and it’s time for you to choose

but you say it’s just all too much
well you don’t know the half
you’re waiting for a hero
or waiting for the draft
you just turn the channel
while everyone else gets the shaft
you’re waiting for a hero
or waiting for the draft

there’s a reason, there’s a reason / questions are not in fashion this season
curiosity’s unpatriotic and honesty is treason
but that, my friend, don’t give you / the license to ignore
the storm clouds at the window / and the drumbeat at the door
the storm clouds at the window / and the drumbeat at the door

still it’s not trendy enough
for me to do the math
i’m waiting for a hero
or waiting for the draft
and i can’t be bothered
more than a couple paragraphs
i’m waiting for a hero
or waiting for the draft

are these blessings a lie / or these blessings too plentiful
we too cynical to have dreams / or too ignorant to be cynical
our appetites keep growing / while progress is slowing
why’s the going gotta get tough / before the tough ever get going
why’s the going gotta get tough / before the tough ever get going
and it’s easy to get lost
if you never learned the path
waiting for a hero
waiting for the draft
when you don’t get the punch line
you’ll know who got the last laugh
waiting for a hero
or waiting for the draft

(solo)

the roll is being called, are you here, are you here
we can’t afford to keep quiet / while the inevitable draws near
it’s time to make a stand and demand the world we want
or is all we claim to stand for really just a front
is all we claim to stand for really just a front

is history just a bedtime story
while we sleep through our past
we’re waiting for a hero
or waiting for the draft

and if i die before i wake
what a fitting epitaph
i was waiting for a hero
i was waiting for the draft

lord, tell me what will it take
for me to get off my ass………………….
waiting for a hero
or waiting for the draft

and if i die before i wake
what a fitting epitaph
i was waiting for a hero
i was waiting for the draft

listening to elijahlucian’s remix of this track. wow. i would ed pick it if i hadn’t just done two in a row.

your lyrics speak to me. they are sharp, sad but strong. your words describe how i feel.

thank you.

yeah, you’re right. the ekijahlucian’s remix is way beyond expectations.

thanks again for the kind words. it really means a lot. I’m currently writing stuff primarily focused on social justice issues. so, hopefully, I can snag enough great remixes like this to be able to offer a strong musical contribution to the dialogue.

here’s to us all doing our part.

Flippin’ incredible lyrics. You’ve got some serious skills. Your delivery on this one is so fun, too.
